As we head into wedding season 2013, we wanted to share some highlights from an amazing wedding we were lucky to be a part of this past year. Last October, we were tickled to have catered Morgan & Matt’s gorgeous wedding at Bella Luna Farms. This couple was as fun & sweet as they come. There was a perfect mixture of elegant, whimsical & romantic details, carefully thought-out and woven beautifully into their special day.
A few unique details for their wedding: Adorable fingerprint tree art work was featured in lieu of a traditional guest book, with romantic floral and paper flags guiding guests around the farm. A lovely, rustic Jewish chuppah (which symbolizes the home that the couple will build together) was erected for their exchange of vows. Plaid wool blankets were given to guests to cuddle under later at the reception to stay warm. The impeccable Lisa Chambers of Chambers & Co. paid careful attention to every detail and it showed – we are always amazed when we step into the world she creates at her events!
The multiple food stations were unique and showcased another style for wedding meals. Many couples assume a plated meal or buffet are the only options. Yet, in a venue like Bella Luna, the setup encouraged guests to tour the grounds while sampling yummy food along the way. So that every food station didn’t get hit at once, guests were divided into three groups and their “escort card” flag told them what station to start at.
Another unique touch was the “flash mob” the bride invited her female guests to participate in. Ladies were sent a private YouTube link with the dance moves so they could practice in advance. But, they were sworn to secrecy! – no husbands or dates knew what was in store. Half way through the couple’s first dance, the DJ scratched the song and started playing the flash mob song! The ladies hit the dance floor and knocked the dance out of the park. The groom acted like he had no idea what was going on at first, but then jumped in and actually did the dance because he had learned it too! Our service staff was in on the surprise and were asked to join the fun – we even caught part of it on camera.
And the perfect sweet treat to take over the dance floor afterwards? A build-your-own ice cream sandwich bar with chocolate chip, Redmond crisp & ginger molasses cookies paired with chocolate, vanilla & salted caramel ice cream & all the fixings.
