At Lisa Dupar Catering, summertime means wedding season, specialty cocktails, ice cream sandwiches, no need for a rain plan, a bustling kitchen and Woodland Park Zoo’s annual Jungle Party fundraiser – an event we have had the privilege of catering for six years running. The enormity of this seated dinner is one of our biggest challenges, but it is a definite highlight of our year. This year’s Jungle Party was no different. Over 1,000 guests indulged themselves in our cuisine centered around the theme of this year’s bash – Call of the Wild: The Great Northwest.
Imagine plating 1,000 intricately designed dishes in fewer than 15 minutes. Three times consecutively. In one night. Not an easy task! It took 150 staff members, servers and chefs and 10,000 pieces of china, glassware and flatware to execute on an event this size! Each member of the Lisa Dupar Catering team, from event planners to chefs to operations van loaders, was dedicated to executing the event flawlessly.
SWEET CORN PANNA COTTA
with chili-cilantro emulsion, summer tomatoes, queso and corn chips
The highlight of the night came with the VIP dinner selection. These special guests had the opportunity to eat a chocolate masterpiece crafted by none other than the pastry chefs behind our chocolate and pastry partner, Lumette Little Luxuries. The VIP Dessert, a chocolate woodland panna cotta was finished with a hand crafted smiling chocolate frog. It was almost too beautiful to eat! Key word: almost.
VIP FOURTH COURSE
CHOCOLATE WOODLAND PANNA COTTA
Although it might seem im”paw”ssible to some, we used our “koala”fications to pull off another successful event! And in the end, we helped the Woodland Park Zoo throw a fabulous party and raise over 1.4 million to support its excellence in animal care, local and global conservation and all-ages education programs.
We are already looking forward to seeing these guys’ shining faces next year!
