Lisa Dupar Catering and Pomegranate Bistro to Host a Series of Cooking Classes


Local celebrity chefs Lisa Dupar and Jonathan Zimmer announce cooking class schedule for Valentine’s Day and Cinco de Mayo, as well as a class on the art of classical cocktails and another on wine, Swiss chocolate and cheese

REDMOND, WASH. — January 2008 — The Seattle area’s best known caterers, Lisa Dupar, and her husband and business partner, Jonathan Zimmer, are here to help you cook up a storm in the new year.  Learn to prepare the most elegant, romantic dinner for Valentine’s Day or learn to prepare the perfect Cinco de Mayo party. The following is a list of upcoming classes offered by Lisa Dupar Catering and Pomegranate Bistro in the coming months:

  • Valentine’s Day Winter Romance Cooking Class,” 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., February 5. Cost: $75 per person. Make an impression on the one you love by cooking up a romantic dinner for two. Chefs Lisa Dupar and Jonathan Zimmer will go “behind the scenes” to teach you how to create the ultimate Valentine’s Day dinner. Class will begin with the staff’s favorite sweetheart cocktail, a Pure Passion. The class menu features: Peel Me a Grape Chevre & Pistachio Grapes; Tortellini with Pumpkin and Sage; Patak Lamb Chops wrapped in Fillo Pastry, and Caramelized Apple Napoleon with Wild Honey Caramel Sauce.   • St. Patty’s Day Beer and Food Pairing” 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., March 14. Cost: $65 per person. Why pair beer with food, you say? Besides choosing the ideal beer for St. Patty’s Day weekend, learn to enjoy some of your favorite dishes with the right brew. If you feel stuck in a wine rut, Lizze Myers, owner of Malt and Vine, will pull you right back out. The range of flavors in beer is greater than wine. We will pair five distinctly different dishes and beer styles together for you beer enhanced evening. Seafood, Beef, Mexican dishes, and sweets (yes, even dessert) will be sampled from a foamy head! IPA’s, Brau-Weiss, Yeti’s, Kriek’s and Stout s will all be sampled with their perfect partner from Lisa’s Pomegranate menu. Steak and Stout anyone? Come hungry. Beer notes included. Space is limited.   • The Swiss Connection: Wine, Chocolate and Cheese,” 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., April 26. Cost: $125 per person. Third generation winemaker Jean-François Pellet of Pepper Bridge Winery and chef Lisa Dupar combine to create a Swiss-inspired evening of tasty food and wine. Try Dupar’s favorites from “la Suisse;” including Shared Swiss Fondue; Roesti and Veal Zurichoise, Roasted Beet Salad; and Swiss Chocolate dessert extravaganza.
  • Cinco de Mayo Cooking Class,” 6:30 to 8:30 pm, April 29. Cost: $75 per person. Sous chef Juan Nunez will share his secret family recipes and favorite dishes from his hometown in Mexico. Learn to make Chili-Colorado Pork Tamales; Chili-Verde Sopes; Salsa de Molcajete; Guacamole; and Hot Cinnamon Flan. Chef Nunez and Chef Lisa Dupar will create handcrafted Guava Margaritas.   • “Cocktail Pairing 101,” 6:30 to 8:30 pm, June 6. Cost: $75 per person. Mixologist Len Nahajski and Chef Lisa Dupar will include straightforward tip on how to plan a sizzling cocktail party, purchase fresh ingredients and ways for you to create your own infused spirits. Chef Dupar will use her 25+ years of mixing experience to pair these specialty cocktails with summertime fare to demonstrate how you turn your home into next summer’s coolest hangout! Featured cocktails include modern twists on the classics like the Mint Julep and Side Car, plus Nahajski’s latest creations including his “Barely Legal Passion Cocktail.” This class will be a “hands-on” cocktail class that includes a light tasting paired menu.
