Local Celebrity Chef Brings Thanksgiving Holiday to Parents of Hospitalized Babies Chef Lisa Dupar teams up with the March of Dimes to bring Thanksgiving holiday meals to parents of premature babies at Swedish Medical Center
WHAT: While most Seattle residents spend this time of year preparing for their annual Thanksgiving feast, for parents of premature babies still in the hospital, a holiday dinner is an afterthought. On Wednesday, November 21 at 3:00 p.m., local celebrity chef Lisa Dupar will bring her popular Turkey-A-Go-Go Thanksgiving menu to families spending the holiday with their newborns in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of Swedish Medical Center.
WHY: Each year Lisa Dupar Catering offers busy families a pre-made Thanksgiving feast, similar to the one served each Thanksgiving at Dupar's restaurant, Pomegranate Bistro. This year Lisa Dupar will bring the popular Southern-style meal to families in the Swedish Medical Center NICU. During a time of giving thanks, Dupar wants to give back and help families of babies born prematurely take a moment to relax and enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday.
For many of these parents, a sit-down Thanksgiving meal at home with their families is out of the question. For that reason, Dupar and her catering team will be preparing and serving a complete holiday meal, from roast turkey to delicious pie, for these parents and their families.
WHO: Lisa Dupar, owner of Lisa Dupar Catering and Pomegranate Bistro. Dupar will be serving NICU families Thanksgiving dinner and is available for interviews.
Dr. Terry Sweeney, director of Swedish Medical Center NICU. Dr. Sweeney is available to explain how Swedish Medical Center serves premature babies and their families. Dr. Sweeney will also lead tours of the facility to any interested media.
Lacey Yantis Blank, NICU Family Support Specialist, March of Dimes. Yantis Blank is available to speak about the NICU Family Support Program at Swedish Medical Center as well as discuss Prematurity Awareness Month, which is November.
WHEN: Wednesday, November 21, 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Dinner will be served throughout the course of the afternoon. Tours of the NICU facility and one-on-one interviews with Lisa Dupar, The March of Dimes, Swedish Medical Center staff and families are available during this time. Please RSVP to Aaron Blank (info below) in advance to secure interview time and tour.
